The interface between Internal Medicine and Obstetrics is becoming increasingly important as the health of the mother is not only critical for a successful pregnancy, but also the intrauterine environment and the outcome of the pregnancy is important for the long term general medical health of the child.

SOMANZ ASM AWARDS & TRAVEL GRANTS

The Society makes available a number of awards at the Annual Scientific Meeting. Applications are called for as part of the abstract submission process, and are judged at the ASM.


SOMANZ PRESIDENT'S AWARD

The SOMANZ President’s Award will be given to the best clinical presentation by any SOMANZ member at the Annual Scientific Meeting.  The award is for A$1000 and will be judged by an expert panel throughout the meeting and awarded on the final day.


SOMANZ ANDREW PHIPPARD MEMORIAL AWARD

The SOMANZ Andrew Phippard Memorial Award will be given to the best oral scientific presentation by a junior SOMANZ member during the meeting.  This award is for A$1000 and will be judged by an expert panel throughout the meeting and awarded on the final day.


SOMANZ BEST POSTER AWARD

The SOMANZ Best Poster Award will be available during the Annual Scientific Meeting in Melbourne, VIC. Please indicate if you wish to be considered for the Poster Award during the abstract submission process. You must be a SOMANZ member to apply and must be standing by your poster at the time of the poster session. The SOMANZ Poster Award is to the value of A$500.


SOMANZ TRAVEL GRANTS 

Applications are invited from junior SOMANZ members to apply for a Travel Grant to attend the Annual Scientific Meeting in Alice Springs, NT.  The travel grants are to the value of A$500. Applicants must be a financial member of SOMANZ at the time of application and be presenting at the meeting. Applications (in the form of a brief letter from a supervisor or department head) should be sent to the SOMANZ Secretariat via email to: sneylon@somanz.org by Monday 15 August 2016.  Please use “SOMANZ Travel Grant Application” in the subject line of your email.

2016 SOMANZ Annual General Meeting

Notice is given to SOMANZ Members that the 2016 SOMANZ Annual General Meeting will be held at 12:30pm on Saturday 17 September 2016 at the Alice Springs Convention Centre, NT. All financial members of the Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia & New Zealand are welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting.
